battleborndr: (I threw myself to the wind yeah)

[OOC: Green is Jenny, purple is Donna, blue is the Doctor.]

[The communicator switches back and forth between audio and video settings, catching snippets of (mostly) loud female voices and images of a mildly perplexed man, before settling in on the Video function. It fixates on a moogle looking highly annoyed at the communicator’s owner. He looks highly annoyed back, but properly chastised, and oh, damn, now he has no distraction from the two women.]

You should have left it be for now, dad. You could have always looked into it further later. [You can tell that she has a more matter-of-fact attitude about whatever had just happened.]

Oi! I told you he’d be mad if you tried to mess with it! [You can hear the eyeroll in her voice.]

I don’t see what the big deal is… [He looks so put out.] I’d put it back together. ...Probably.

How would you feel if someone just showed up and started taking your things apart?

I don’t even have “things” to take apart. And anyway, it shows an impeccable appreciation for good craftsmanship! [Yeah. Totally.]

Whatever you say, Spac-- [She cuts herself off there.]

[Go on, say it. He dares you. He just stares at her a moment, then looks away. His Hebby Repp messes up his cool demeanor though, by thinking it’s a good time to leave the sanctity of his shoulders and scurry up Jenny. It’s totally cool. Right? Right.]

Oi! Would you two stop it and hurry up already! I’m gonna end up leaving you both behind! [Yes, she was a tad eager to explore further. She didn’t even sound deterred by other two or for that matter, the Hebby Repp ditching her father, and yes, she was still considering him her father.]

Just hold on a second! [Her Pricklemane is bouncing around her feet in circles, apparently wanting to get going too. She looks back at the Doctor.] Careful, I’ll come up with a worse nickname. [Like GrumpyBritches, or something.]

[He cringes. He doesn’t doubt it.] Right. Let’s not keep her waiting, shall we? [Someone probably should have reminded him about the communicator, but the only one that probably would is the moogle, who still just glares. So the thing stays on.]

[OOC: You get a lottery: Donna, Jenny,  or The Doctor or all three may respond to you! Feeling Lucky, punk?]

tametheelements: (Ehehehehehehe)
So...how...exactly does one go about getting to Ponyville?

[Because she wants to help, very badly. But she's been distracted by getting herself settled and getting use to having a weird...lizard thing following her around.

But no better time than the present to get started right?]

And could someone maybe give me an idea of what these Elements of Harmony look like? So I know what to keep an eye out for?

[She grins a bit, rubbing the back of her head.]

After I get use to the whole...ah..pony thing I mean.
realmenknitplushies: (Kan-bow)
[First District, Traverse Town. Kanji's spent a little while getting settled in, but he's out and exploring right now, getting his bearings.
Or, at least, he is until trouble hits.
A mob of Nightmares. Nothing spectacular, a gang of Meow Wows, but it's enough to catch him off guard. How can anything so adorable be so vicious...! Then again: he's hardly unfamiliar with getting into a fight. Now, what can he use around here to take those damn things out with...

Shortly after, parked on the steps leading down to the town gates, he'll be making a call to get some more answers while he recovers a bit.]

...anyone getting this? Uh, hi, anyway. Name's Kanji - I got here earlier. And - I've got a coupla questions. About these guys.

[He pans the camera around to show his Pricklemane bouncing happily nearby.]

This little dude saved my ass earlier, but I don't know anything about it. Or about the ones who were trying to eat me. ... That's how it works, right? They're 'Dream Eaters', we're dreaming...

[Kanji logic, everyone.]

So is there anything I need to know? Like, how do I look after this guy? Does anywhere sell food for 'em?

...uh, and does anyone know who owns the café by the 'item' shop? The one with the chairs outside? I ... can't see 'em anywhere but I think I kinda owe 'em some cash.
I just... didn't exactly have anythin' else I could use, here...
fatemeter: (hope you're prepared)
Good evening. [However little that means in a place that doesn't seem to have actual days, it hardly hurts to be polite.] My name is Naoto Shirogane. In my... own world [there's just a moment of hesitation], I'm a detective by trade. As such, in the interest of consolidating what information we have, I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

[It might be a bit difficult to put a gender to the voice here without any visual cues. It is unambiguously young - but given the practised, professional air with which all of this is being reeled off, you might overlook that. To some extent, that's the point.]

Firstly: what are the last events you recall before waking up in this "realm of dreams"? Is the memory continuous as far as you can remember, or is there a gap?

Secondly: were you previously familiar with the phenomenon of movement between different worlds, voluntary or otherwise? If so, what comparisons could you draw, if any, to the process of entering this one?

Thirdly: from what you know of those in this same situation, can you think of any commonalities we may have had prior to our arrival here? Is there evidence to suggest that the selection is something other than wholly random - based on certain criteria, perhaps, or even a conscious choice on the part of some other entity?

And, finally... [This level tone of voice doesn't change.] Where in this place might somebody procure firearms, should the need arise?

[Potentially unfortunate implications? What unfortunate implications?]

I assure you, any answers you can offer will be helpful. Thank you for your time.

[Without fanfare, the recording switches off.]
tametheelements: (Blah blah blah)
--this? I just--

Oh, um--I think it's working.

[Korra really has no idea what she's supposed to be doing with this thing. Sure, Republic City was a pretty up-to-date place but this was a new little device. Really new.

Have an awkward smile though and a slight wave as she tries to keep herself composed.]

My name's Korra and I'm not..really sure where I am or how I got here. I'm looking for my friends though--Bolin, Mako, and Asami. I...if you guys are here too, let me know? Or come find me.

[The weak attempt at a smile doesn't work anymore and she looks around, peering at something out of sight of the camera, an odd look on her face after a second. She then turns some and a Hebby Repp can be seen.]

And could anyone tell me what this weird...thing is that's following me? I don't think it's a spirit but I'm not really sure at this point.
boot2thehead: (Uncertain)
[The audio crackles on… and then there’s nothing for a while but the sound of someone’s breathing. There are a couple thuds shortly after, like the person transmitting it tapping the communicator. That done, the person on the other end finally pipes up.]

There’s a pink and yellow bat here. It seems to like me. [For someone else, this might be normal. For Point Man, he can’t recall a single animal that’s ever liked him.]

What am I supposed to do with it?
colorbymemory: (content)
[Namine isn't often one to start conversations on the communicator like this, but recent conversations have given her an idea. So here she is, her sketchbook in hand.]

I know some of us agreed to help look for the missing items in Ponyville, and I thought it might help if we had a drawing of them so everyone knows what we're looking for. I've tried one...

[She holds up the sketchbook. While she has the basic shapes of the jewels on the necklaces and tiara right, some of the details are wrong. For instance, the necklaces look like pendants on chains instead of collars, and the star on the tiara is smaller than it should be.]

...but I'm not sure if it's right. If I get a good description, though, I'm sure I could do better, and that might help everyone who is looking.
unrecovered: (Let me think about that one)
[Somebody's human, which rules out Ponyville as the location for this one.]

Three things. One, if you haven't figured out how to walk as a pony yet, do it soon. There's a pattern to the way this dream works - when something happens, it'll probably happen in Ponyville, and if you want to get involved you need to be able to walk.

Two. [He pulls out the dead AI chip that came from the Mother of Invention and holds it up to the camera, keeping a very straight face.] Have any of these changed hands? We should be keeping track of them. [And by that he means "he's keeping track of them whether you all like it or not."]

Three, has anyone tried putting the talking items together yet?
sylvan: (031.)
[The video comes at an odd angle, all wild waves of vivid green hair, occasionally rocking nauseously to reveal pale, creamy skin and the flash of dark blue eyes or part of a nervous but friendly smile -- much like the voice that comes over the airwaves.]

I've... never used something like this before, so I hope it's working! [Her laugh comes soft, chiming a few times before dissipating. The screen shakes and a slender hand comes into view, gesturing as she speaks. Slowly her appearance becomes a little more visible; a sideways angle of about two-thirds of her face comes into focus. Though the angle is odd, it's clear that she is an attractive woman and while uncomfortable, she radiates warmth.]

I'm not really sure where I'm going with all of this, I hadn't had much of a plan in mind when I started. [Another soft laugh that implies she's lost in more than one sense of the word. It doesn't reach her eyes, nor does the smile any longer.]

I do have a question, though, if no one minds it. What now?
too_high: ([A] Through the wicked winding)
[The feed switches on and cycles through mediums, from audio of something softly growling, to black and white armored hands, flash of a gold visor, and blue sky above as the device is fiddled with, and then settles on text. A couple moments pass before any words are entered.]

AGENT MAINE TO COMMAND. REQUESTING STATUS. UNKNOWN DEPLOYMENT. CLARIFY.
amygdalae: you won't like the alternative (let's just do this the easy way)
[Soooooo.

Bruce isn't exactly sure where he is, but its pretty clear he isn't in Kansas New York anymore. Or even America, for that matter. Possibly Earth too, considering his attempts to get information.]

Um.

[Should he be using this thing? Its kind of... yeah. Suspicious. Its not everyday you fall asleep to wake up somewhere else with a strange device on you. (Well okay, the first part is something that’s happened while the second... actually, nevermind that.)

At least the place is... interesting. For a lack of a better word.]

If there’s anybody out there watching this - I would appreciate it if I could have an explanation about--all of this. [Gesturing to his surroundings in question for emphasis, which is a nice shot of one of the districts for a few moments before its broken by the aborable sounds of a Meow Wow as it starts to jump up and down, taking the screen each time.]

[...yeah so after a bit Bruce angles the device back at him, awkwardly scratching the back of his head.] I did try asking, but I don’t think a couple of ‘kupos’ and a cat-thing following after me is exactly the answer I’m looking for.

[Attempts to put on a smile here. Just... help him out here, please? He would appreciate it, really.]

[Noble Six couldn't help herself. After everything, she had to sit down now that there's breathing room. She's not dying at least, but the wounds that would have killed her weren't completely healed. There's some pain. And there's visible damage to the armor that she was going to have to try to figure out a way to fix.  It's damage from Covenant weaponry, to those that might be familiar.  Her helmet is actually off and sitting next to her with a broken visor.  A Komory bat takes the chance to land next to her, trying to climb into her lap. He's trying trying to cuddle, just to get pushed away.  He can't help making worried noises at his person.]

Come on. Knock it off.

This is Spartan-B312, Noble Six. I'm looking for other UNSC personnel to make contact. I need information on what this place is. It definitely doesn't look like Reach. [Ignoring the fact that she should be dead from what she can remember.]

[Edit:  Forgot the helmet.]
unrecovered: (Let me think about that one)
[It's a few days after FILSS' opening the training room, and Wash is still tired. He's in full armor and helmet to hide that fact. He holds up an AI chip in front of the camera. It's hollow in the middle and isn't lighting up.]

Melody had this. I'm pretty sure she found it on the Mother of Invention. Those of you who know what this is, there isn't anything in it. It's not active. That...doesn't stop it from talking.

The ID card from the post office and the blank photo from the mansion. Who has them?

[In the background, Melody protests, albeit not nearly as loud as she had when he'd mentioned getting another cat. Hey! She was holding onto that for Lela! Give it back!]
motorvation: (gonna win this)
TO-! [There's a lot of clinking and clanking and outright crashing that overwhelms even that short word, and Asami's got that very Not Pleased expression on her face as the picture finally focuses on her.] Tony. You need to come here. Now. Your Spirits are about to electrocute themse-

[She's interrupted again by a chittering in the background, a Komory Bat to be specific, that spirals up into enthusiastic squeaks and is followed by twin snorts and neighs as something else goes crashing to the ground out of view. It causes her to spin, and the picture to move violently and quickly, as Asami looks to see what the new cause of the noise is in the Gizmo Shop. Whatever it it, it's not good.]

Put that down! And let that go! If you don't, I-

[The picture blinks off.]
punsofiron: (well shit)
[Liz is sitting on the bed in her hotel room looking extremely tired. We're probably all familiar with that feeling by now. What's unusual this time though is the Hebby Repp sprawled across her shoulders like a boa as she scritches it idly under the chin.]

Hey, have any of you seen my friend 90s Kid? He's about this tall, brown hair, sunglasses and backwards hat, really loud and usually seen in the company of this fella? [she means the Hebby Repp. Yup, that's Kodachrome. It's not usually in Liz's care now is it.]
salvagedlight: (whatever it takes)
[Anyone in Traverse Town's Second District might notice weird flashes of light coming from down the small path to the Dalmatian house. This isn't something that's probably safe to practice inside the relatively small rooms of most Traverse Town buildings, but most of the space outdoors is so open that Ven's wary about practicing out there, too. He knows he looks young, and he's wary about people telling him he's overreaching himself or that he shouldn't be doing what he's doing, and the light would draw obvious attention so he's trying to hide it.]

[It's not all that successful, though, since the light is still really bright, and it flashes from the alley out into the main plaza of the District. There's also a rather odd sound with each flash, a soft, high, sort of scraping echo that's much harder to detect but is apparent enough from close in. Whatever Ven's trying, it involves his Keyblade, as the weapon is held out in front of him with both hands, and it doesn't seem to be working very well as the mostly determined but somewhat frustrated expression on his face reveals. For once, his Spirits are nowhere to be seen.]
onlyrescuesmaidens: (Default)
[Fiddles with the communicator strapped tightly to his right wrist and glares as the picture comes into focus. Doing anything that requires fine motor control with just his left hand is still difficult, and even fastening buttons takes time. Add completely unfamiliar technology into the mix, and he's lucky he can even turn it on. He's waited until he found the inn the... what was that little white dwarf-bear with the red puff-ball called again? Oh... Moogle... The inn that the moogle directed him to and arranged for a room before trying to turn it on.]

I must admit, it is almost refreshing to be told that I need to introduce myself, though talking to a box on my wrist seems to be an odd way of doing it. Some sort of sorcery perhaps?

[A pained expression spreads over his face. Tyrion would have been fascinated by this. HE would have had ideas. HE would have poked and prodded at the little box and muttered about old books and maesters and theories. But Tyrion isn't here.]

I am Jaime Lannister, son of... no, I suppose that doesn't matter here, if you don't know the Lannister name. Suffice to say, I am a knight and a warrior...

[He looks down at the stump where his right hand once was.]

Though there's less of me than there used to be.

I've been told there are others here from many worlds... if there are any here from mine, be it Westeros, or the Free Cities, or Essos, you know my name, and I offer you... if not my friendship, then my help in getting back to where we came from.

And Brienne, if you're here... wake up and find the Stark girl, and SEVEN HELLS, stop following me! Unless you can't wake up either. If that's the case, I might have a use for that sword arm of yours and that very fine sword I gave you. I seem to be unarmed. Most embarrassing for a knight of the kingsguard, wouldn't you say?

[He pokes warily at the communicator again, and it lets out a shrill screech before turning off. The pricklemane that's been following him since he agreed to let the moogle help him synthesize it, and is now laying at his feet, winces and hisses at him, but doesn't move away from him. Jaime rather wishes that it would just go away, but doesn't think it worth the trouble to drive it off.]
seasaltkeys: (Sparkle)
Path A

[There's a Roxas on the screen. He looks exhausted. And kind of worried, and there's a bit of embarrassment in there to. Still, he's in a bit of an emergency and he needs help.]

Has anyone seen Sparkle? She's been missing for a while now.

[By a while, he means a few hours, enough to worry him. She always comes when he calls.]

She's a Me Me Bunny. I haven't painted her.

I think she's still in Traverse Town somewhere.

Path B:

[There's a me me bunny hoping around near the post office. This looks like  fun place to be. Roxas has never really let her explore like this before. Approach Y/N?]
unrecovered: (Well...)
Did anyone else win a rare Spirit in the Moogle game at the party last week?

More to the point, if anyone won a Frootz Cat-

[There's a disapproving meow from offscreen - someone doesn't approve of the idea of a second cat in the household. Wash ignores it.]

-and hasn't put it together yet, would you be willing to trade the pieces?

[That's as far as he gets before Melody flies onto the bed in a whirlwind of sound and fury and snaps the communicator closed. No! She's the only cat here!]
dork_of_keys: (Default)
[Sora is sitting on his bed, not really doing much of anything when he turns the communicator on. Sitting on the bed next to him is Toxy. The Toxiander is looking at something off to the side. A pair of eyes peeks over the side of the bed. They're the eyes of an Escarglow if anyone is familiar with them. Toxy seems a bit wary of the snail. Sora just watches for a moment.]

I'm pretty sure it was an accident Toxy. You did kind of startle him.

[Toxy makes a noise. He's obviously whining and any other Spirits watching at least will understand that Toxy is griping about having had Stop cast on him after startling the new Spirit shortly after it was made. For its part, the Snail Spirit does seem apologetic.

Sora leans over the side of the bed and pulls the snail up. Shortly after the Spirit is up on the bed, the top petals of a Wheeflower wander into view. The flower doesn't wait for an invitation and hops up onto the bed. It seems to think the snail's reaction was justified and at least it used a spell that doesn't do any damage right? Toxy crawls into Sora's lap, clearly pouting. The snail really is sorry and it says so.
]

Come on, you guys, accidents happen.

[Toxy sniffs at the snail. The snail... doesn't sniff back, seeing as it doesn't exactly have a nose, but it looks closer at Toxy. Which looks weird since its eyes are on stalks and it doesn't really have to move its face any closer.

Sora turns and looks at the communicator. He doesn't seem surprised that it's on, but he doesn't say anything right away. Instead he turns back to the Spirits.
]

Are we cool?

[The snail offers another apology to Toxy. The Toximander seems to accept it.

Now Sora addresses the communicator. His Spirits settle on their own conversation, mostly about what just happened.
]

So uh... heh, this wasn't what I was posting about but it kind of happened. [he makes the vague gesture to indicate the Spirits, who are now thoroughly occupied with their conversation, even if Toxy is still in his lap.] Uh, anyway, I wanted to ask a bit of help on something to try to deal with that monster on the ship. I... kind of went there a couple days ago to try something, but... it didn't exactly work out. It might with better planning though?

Uh, we know it's fast, and invisible. What I was doing the other day was a little stupid among other things, but...I was going around the ship casting magic around, more or less at random. I figured if the monster didn't have any idea it was coming, it couldn't avoid it or anything and maybe I could at least do something to make it visible. And almost zapped someone else. Sorry about that, by the way...

But we got to talking. The spells I was using were mostly damaging area spells and Slow and Stop. So what I wanted to ask is who else knows any of these spells? Or has Spirits that know them? Haste would be useful too. I don't know it, but I know some Spirits do. And I don't know if we want to meet up and try to do some planning or what, but maybe it might help to know who can do what?
