Oh, um--I think it's working.

[Korra really has no idea what she's supposed to be doing with this thing. Sure, Republic City was a pretty up-to-date place but this was a new little device. Really new.

Have an awkward smile though and a slight wave as she tries to keep herself composed.]

My name's Korra and I'm not..really sure where I am or how I got here. I'm looking for my friends though--Bolin, Mako, and Asami. I...if you guys are here too, let me know? Or come find me.

[The weak attempt at a smile doesn't work anymore and she looks around, peering at something out of sight of the camera, an odd look on her face after a second. She then turns some and a Hebby Repp can be seen.]

And could anyone tell me what this weird...thing is that's following me? I don't think it's a spirit but I'm not really sure at this point.

Just I say. [Celestia backs up the scroll a slight bit, the better to show off the warm yellow glow around her horn.] Unicorns can perform magic, and should you venture to the dream world of Ponyville, you in turn will become a pony. I am guessing a unicorn.

At present, there are four worlds here: Twilight Town, Traverse Town, the Mother of Invention, and Ponyville. We expect more to open up in time and with effort on our part. One of the quirks of traveling to Ponyville is that, if you are not already a pony, you will become one for the duration of your stay in the world.

...What do you mean by open up?

And how exactly do we get to these different worlds?

Portals to different worlds open when certain conditions have been fulfilled. For example, we opened the path to the Mother of Invention after investigating a mansion in Twilight Town and battling an immense Nightmare, and studying clues in photographs. The way to Ponyville opened after the defeat of a monster that stalked the halls of the Mother of Invention, although I am not certain that was the immediate trigger.

So the more nightmares you defeat, the more worlds we can open up?




If you're from Ponyville and it appeared here...does that mean my home could too?

These were specific foes, not the sort you find in the alleys of the various worlds. It isn't quite so simple a correlation.

Ponyville is a town from Equestria, but it is not where I or my sister live. It is, however, probably the most important location in Equestria at present, as it is the home of the current bearers of the Elements of Harmony.

It is my belief that the worlds we gain access to are all connected to the people here. That has been true of all of them thus far. I make no promises, but I believe an important place from your world is a likely candidate.

[Relief flickers across Korra's face but she also takes into consideration what else Celestia said, knowing that she shouldn't get her hopes up just yet.]

You mentioned the elements of Harmony.

What are those exactly? What makes them so important?

[letteropener]

The Elements of Harmony are six magical artifacts of incredible power. In Equestria, they were used to stop some of the greatest threats to the land, sich as Discord, the spirit of disharmony, and Nightmare Moon.

Here, however, they have gone missing, and it is implied we must find them to open the next door.

I'm going to guess that they only work when they're all together?

[After all, that's usually how these things go.]

I could help look for them, if you need help. I mean, I know I'm new here but...

[The sooner they opened more worlds, the better the chances of her home maybe appearing.]

The help is very welcome... but you do remember what I said about Ponyville, yes?

I do, yes.

[letteropener]

Then I would advise that first, you become used to a pony form. And if you are a unicorn, I will gladly teach you how to use magic.

[Korra can't help but smile a bit.]

As I said, it's a pleasure. And it is to everypony's benefit. I hope that should we ever find a world that turns ponies into humans, you all will extend us the same courtesy.

I'm glad to hear it! I have many questions, such as how do you balance on only two legs, and why do you all wear clothing at all times?

[Celestia is only teasing, of course; she is perfectly aware that humans have curved spines and clothing is just a thing they do. But this discussion might have been getting a shade too serious.]

Very carefully and to keep warm a lot of the time, since humans are a little lacking on the natural warmth side of things.

[Korra grins a bit and she very much appreciates the lightening of the mood, even if she doesn't realize Celestia is already aware of the answers.]

[Celestia laughs brightly.] You were much less flustered by that question than some I could name.

[tametheelements]

[Korra can't help but laugh a bit herself.]

I'm sure there are weirder things you could have asked.

[letteropener]

Perhaps, but I do have some propriety. Besides, it is obvious that humans and ponies are essentially the same beneath the outermost surfaces, so I have yet to be too confused or surprised by anything you do.

[tametheelements]

Well, that's good.

Still, being a pony is going to be really weird at first.

[And then she realizes how that sounds.]

Not a bad weird though just, you know, different weird!

[letteropener]

{Celestia laughs, not at all bothered by the phrasing.]

You needn't fear offending me. It really must be, I can only imagine! But I think you will find it pleasant, if you let yourself.
