Fifth Transmission

[York's image comes up on the communicator, and even with armor on he looks fairly confused. He's sitting in the hotel, and Sparky's in his usual position on top of York's head.]

Okay, so I know I've been kind of distracted most of this week, but what the heck happened on the Mother of Invention? Is everyone okay?

Catching up with an old friend, mostly. Have you met Carolina yet?

[Actually the thought of their meeting is terrifying.]

Not a name I recognize, so probably not. Did she just arrive?

[At that name though, Fluffy's ears perk up. He knows that name. That's the kinda-blue-colored armored lady's name! The one they found when their person was gone. He's now landed on Ziva's shoulder and is looking at the screen himself. She doesn't know her, but we do!]

Yeah, she got here just recently. You two will have to meet up; I think you'll get along.

[Sparky chirps back at Fluffy. She's really strong and Dax is nice too.]

Oh, really? What makes you say that?

[Fluffy bobs up and down, as if nodding. Yeah! That must be her. She was pretty strong when we ran into her too! But, she didn't have a spirit then.]

You're both pretty take-charge type people. She'll be a good third for hand-to-hand practice, too.

[Sparky chatters back. She's got one now! They're gonna be a great team, too.]

Oh, so we can take turns kicking your ass then? [She had to, even if they have about a 50/50 win-loss ratio going.] You know, it has been a while. [Especially for her...] Once things are settled with all the craziness going on, we should pick that up again.

[Fluffy's happy now. Oh good! Not that she seemed to need one, but it would help.]

Hey, I'm holding my own. [He's missed sparring with her, actually] Besides, different techniques, different opponents... [he's going to end up chased around the struggle arena by them both, isn't he.]

[Sparky nods. Everything's better with a team. Like us and our people!]

Yeah, most of the time. [The smirk on her face shows that she's just kidding. You were on the list of people she missed, York.] True. A learning experience for all. [Probably. Both of them armed with Struggle Bats, even.]

[Yes! I'm glad she found one. Know if that one Moogle ever showed up again? He thinks one was hiding from her.]

When we all get a moment to breathe, let's meet up.

[I don't know. I hope so! We need to buy treats from them.]

Works for me. [She looks like she's going to turn the communicator off, then stops.]

Did you get a chance to go to that ship, by chance? [Yes, she is fishing for information, and no, it's not for the reason you think.]

Yeah, but nothing happened while I was there. What's up?

[He assumes it's about the attacks; anyone would be concerned about that.]

Well two questions:

First, any idea on what those attacks are? I have been putting off going there because of them...and I told someone I would not go alone.

Second, and this sounds so...unimportant...but do you know if there is any sort of weaponry on it? I...lost my sidearm when I was home.

I wish I did have any idea. If you decide to go, just give a heads up on the network; I'm sure people'll go with you.

[So Wash didn't want her going alone. York couldn't blame him; Wash hadn't really dealt well with Ziva's leaving and he didn't think Wash would deal well if Ziva were nearly beaten to death in their old stomping grounds.]

If you're looking for firearms, you should check it out. Should be at least a rifle and a handgun somewhere in the lockers there.

[ Something cyan tips into the corner of York's camera view; Fluffy might recognise the shade, even if Ziva does not. There's a faint murmur directed to York barely audible in the background. ]

(..Who's that?)

[York turns to answer Carolina.]

(It's Ziva; she and I've been hand to hand training buddies for a while. She's good.)

[ Carolina moves a little more into view, incidentally leaning against York's shoulder as she glances from the comm back to him. ]

(Really. I'd like to see that.)

[..That's an almost worrying note of interest there.]

[Yup, he's doomed, and yet, that's not a bad thing if it's cheering Carolina up.]

Wanna say hi? Ziva, this is Carolina.

[ ..What. No, she doesn't want to say--damn it, York!

Carolina doesn't actually say anything to go along with his introduction, but she does at least tip her head in a nod of greeting. ]

[Yes! Fluffy recognizes that shade of blue-not-blue! He squeaks before turning towards where Abby is standing and saying It's that lady! Abby wanders over, peering over Ziva's unoccupied shoulder and nodding.

Ziva's just kind of raising an eyebrow at both of them, totally confused. Then she smiles.]

Nice to meet you, Carolina.

[ Visored gaze is measuring. Maybe. It's hard to tell with Carolina. ]

...Likewise. Have you been here long?

[ And huh. She knows those two spirits. ]

I wondered what happened to those two. Last I saw, they were with Wash.

Depends. Are you talking the first time? Or this time?

[Both spirits are waving at her through the camera, even if their person's just rolling her eyes at them]

They were supposed to stay with him. I...took a trip...and he was watching them for me.

I ran into them after I first got here. They were very helpful.

[ Her helmet tips upwards, showing more of the visor. Huh, interesting. It appeared that someone else had left and returned like Epsilon. ]

That was nice of him.

...They were? I would expect them to cause more trouble than solve. [That sarcastic comment is met by the Fluffy version of a Gibbs!slap (Wing!Smack?) and her smiling. Apparently they take after their person a log.]

Yes, it was. Apparently they made a bit more trouble for him than I would have liked.

[ Were a 'flying Tucker' not a legitimate creation concern, Carolina would have to consider figuring out how to make a bat for herself. As it is, the unspoken banter between Fluffy and Ziva earns Fluffy's person approval. Not that anyone can tell. ]

Well, trouble for Wash doesn't surprise me. [heh] But I think they may have been looking for you when they ran into me. They can hold their own in a fight.

[ And then everyone else showed up. ]

So this is your second visit? How long was the first?

[Ziva's used to it, really. And she just plucks the bat off her shoulder to use as a lap pillow, leaning on him slightly... just enough to get him to playfully flail at her. Just another day in the life.]

Good. They need the training, even if they can hold their own now. I am glad they caused little trouble for you.

[She pauses to think for a while.]

I have only been back for a few days. Before that, I was here for a couple of months.
