[Sora is seen looking very serious for a moment and he's doing something with the communicator that's causing it to shake. After a moment of that, the image settles and he looks satisfied. Apparently he was pressing some buttons. Maybe setting a filter?

There's another quiet moment before he speaks up.]

Some of the stuff we've been talking about lately reminded me of something.

Namine, Even, Ienzo, Aeleus. Xemnas lied to you and to the rest of the Organization big time about your hearts. You did lose your hearts but what Xemnas wasn't telling you, and Xigbar seems to have known this too, was that there was a replacement forming. But if you knew, it probably would have developed faster and that wouldn't have been good for other plans they had going.

The point of Organization XIII was to provide Xehanort with thirteen different vessels for his darkness. Out of the guys you know, he got Xemnas, Xigbar and Saix. Apparently everyone else wasn't ideal for him. But he's found others already. He has twelve now and... he almost scored his thirteenth pretty recently.

[He doesn't intend to give any clues, but his poker face sucks. It may or may not be obvious from the pause or from his tone of voice just who it is that almost became that thirteenth vessel.]

There's more to it than that, but I don't have all the details. I just thought you guys should know this much at least.

[The message cuts out here.]

[Ienzo has taken a few minutes to calm down from his initial reaction, but he still looks a bit more intent than usual.]

Thank you for telling us. This is quite a lot to take in.

I thought you should know. I know it's not easy, but it just didn't feel right to keep it from you.

[Even does not take any time to calm down.]

What?! What makes you - How do you - Who do you think - What kind of -

[So many questions, and only one can be first. Eventually, he picks one.]

Even if it were true, how would you of all people know?!

[He would accuse Sora of lying, but virtually anything is more likely than Sora having turned into a competent liar.]

[Somehow, none of this response is unexpected. Sora waits patiently until Even manages to spit out a question.]

He told me himself when he thought I wouldn't be leaving to tell anyone.

[Even processes this. Aeleus would tell him to think it through first, and also to breathe. He attempts to do so. Sora isn't lying; Sora is fairly unlikely, all things considered, to leap to such an elaborate conclusion on his own. Thus, he was probably told...what he says he was told. Even can't think of a reason for Xemnas - for Xehanort - to want Sora to believe this. To induce guilt, perhaps? No, that wouldn't be helpful. At the beginning, perhaps, but once all but Xemnas were dead - no. That isn't him, isn't the kind of tactic he uses.]

[Even is beginning, however, to suspect that he knows still less about who Xemnas is than he thought.]

[It makes sense, is the worst of it. If Xemnas was right, was honest, then Even shouldn't be here. Objectively, either he was mistaken...or he was lying. And of the two of them, Sora is by far the more honest.]

[Even drops his elbows onto the table and buries his face in his hands. Sora can't see his face, which is probably best for everyone.]

Fuck!

[Aeleus looks more than a little rattled by the suggestion - and the implications that come along with it - but he's at least comparatively calm when he answers.]

You're certain?

He was practically crowing about it when he told me.

[In all the time that Aeleus has known Xemnas - or Xehanort, depending - crowing hasn't often been a word that could have been used adequately. He trusts Sora to have things more or less correct, but it's odd. Distinctly odd, and if Xemnas had been lying about this what else had been kept from them over the years.

He suspects he doesn't want to dwell too much on the thought. That doesn't make it any easier of course, and he knows throughout all that may get revealed he'll need to manage - somehow - to be the stable one, grounded and certain.

He's not sure he can be. Not just yet.]

He thought he'd succeeded.

[In as far as one can crow when his usual tone of voice is somewhere between disinterested deadpan and creepy monotone, Xemnas was crowing.

As for what else had been kept secret, Sora could answer some questions, but he really didn't have all of the information. He wished he did.]

He thought so, yeah. Xigbar seemed awfully confident too.

Xigbar often seemed confident.

[And also tended to be something of a nuisance as well, but that's less immediately important, at the moment.]

That seems to be a thing with the people Xehanort targeted for vessels.

[Nuisance is probably putting it mildly. Not only did he cause trouble, he seemed to enjoy doing so.]

Perhaps. But we shouldn't assume he'll keep to a single thing.

I don't think he has been keeping to a single plan. Seems like he's got a lot going on.

He would.

That goes for Roxas, too, huh?

[He'd definitely acted like he had a heart of his own, claiming that he wasn't Sora at all. Riku had always wondered, but DiZ had brushed any suggestion Nobodies could have emotion away as nonsense.

DiZ had been wrong about a lot of things, though.]

Yeah. I wish we could have known the truth sooner, but...

[It is upsetting and if Sora can find a way to fix things, he will.]

It's not your fault, Sora. You couldn't have known about any of that until long afterwards.

[If anyone was to blame, it was Riku, for dragging Roxas back to Sora by force. At the time, he thought he had no choice, if it meant waking Sora up -- and if Roxas had gone on with his crazy plan to reach Kingdom Hearts, it would have been suicide. But if there had been an alternative...]

I know. It still bothers me. But, it's possible we might be able to do something about it now. Well, not now now, but the might be something. we just have to figure out what.

[Sora doesn't think Riku's to blame either. Wasn't he only acting on what he knew? There was so much they didn't know and the lack of information was causing a lot of trouble. That was part of the reason Sora had posted this message.]

[Xion looks stricken for a moment, then her image wavers and it looks like she's pressing buttons as well. Maybe filtering this even further so she's only talking to Sora. She still isn't quite up to forming full sentences when she does speak, but at least it's private.]

You mean Roxas could have...they all could have...

[Her two best friends. Demyx. Luxord. All of the others. They could have somehow gained their own hearts without all the 'heart collecting' or Kingdom Hearts.]

[He can't say he blames her for being upset. It's an upsetting thing to hear.]

Yeah, they could have.

[Of course, the plan hadn't called for them getting their hearts back anyway. The heart collecting was another possible route towards a larger plan.]

[Knowing more about the plan just makes it worse. Not only could the others have gained new hearts if they'd known how, Xemnas, no, Xehanort had prevented that from happening for his own gain. Xion had known he was bad, but not this bad.]

He just wanted them...wanted us all as puppets.

[Now that the initial shock is fading, she's starting to think she's learning what 'anger' really feels like.]

[The plan is bad enough on its own. The motive behind it is utter bullshit. Sora's not sure which is worse. There's more to what he knows about it that he's not sharing yet, such as the precise reason for the puppets and how it ties into something he's already told at least one person.]

Puppets or tools. There probably isn't a difference as far as he's concerned.

[Anger can be a scary thing, even when it's justified.]

[It's probably just as well Xion doesn't know any further details. What Sora's given them is bad enough--both the plan and the motive.]

No, there probably isn't.

[It really can be, as Xion's finding out. Fortunately, waves of strong emotion don't last long for her. That, and she just thought of something.]

If Nobodies could gain hearts, what about Replicas?

[Even the basics are upsetting.]

I don't think there's anyone he sees as anything but a tool.

[Sora's had his own experiences with anger, both his own and others. Angering someone can be dangerous, but it can also be used to manipulate them. He's kind of surprised when Xion asks about replicas having hearts.]

I don't see what not. I would think a replica of a being with a heart would already have a heart, right? And maybe a replica of a Nobody would have the same chance to gain a heart. Although I don't think there have been any replicas of Nobodies.

That seems like it should be sad, but...

[Xion can't bring herself to feel much pity for someone who just used others, even if it means they had no friends (which was a pitiable situation).

It's kind of a sudden subject change, so the surprise isn't unexpected, but she couldn't help asking.]

So I could have a heart, too?

[The thought kind of makes her happy, but it's also kind of scary. She thought she didn't have a heart and could never have one, so suddenly finding out it might be possible is something of a shock.]

It is sad. It just doesn't excuse anything.

[Pity is the most Sora could find for the man. Given that this is Sora, who normally tries to see the good in people, that should say something.

He kind of doesn't might the change of subject right now.]

You are replica of someone with a heart, right? I know of at least one other replica and he had a heart.

['Had' rather than 'has' because as far as Sora knows, that replica never left Castle Oblivion. As with everything concerning Castle Oblivion, Sora's information is very basic. He wishes he knew more, but beyond talking to people who do remember what happened, he's not sure what to do about it.]

[Xion nods in agreement. It's not as if Xion doesn't pity him at all, but she's not always as forgiving as her Original.

Thank goodness for other subjects to focus on. She knows about that Replica, though they never met. Her own memories of her time in Castle Oblivion are hazy, but for different reasons.]

Then I guess we'll see what happens.

[She doesn't want to hope for something and then be disappointed, but she can't help wondering.]

[The part that's driving Sora up the wall is he's not so sure that Xehanort deserves even pity, yet he still has some pity for the man.

She might want to talk to Riku about the other replica.]

I feel pretty confident about this.

[He is actually pretty sure about this. After all, as far as he can tell, one has to have a heart to cry, to feel emotions strongly enough to express them that way. He's seen her do just that.]

[He wouldn't be Sora if he wasn't the kind of person that would feel pity even for someone who may not deserve it.

When Xion feels up to it, she will. She knows it's not a happy story.

Seeing him so confident makes her smile a little.]

[It comes and goes in short, strong bursts at the moment. Maybe with time it will even out and she'll get better at reining things in.]

[Namine pales.]

You-You're sure?

[It's a little much to take in at once, and she's not sure where to start any further questions.]

[Sora knew this would be upsetting for a lot of people to hear. It was upsetting to have to say it.]

I'm sure.

So we could have done it, all along.

[If only they'd known. Did that mean that Roxas hadn't had to go back to Sora? But Sora had needed those memories...

She's focusing on that for now. One thing at a time.]

Yeah. I don't have all the details, but that's the basics.

[Honestly? Sora's been chewing himself up inside about just that since he found out.

He'll have to agree about one thing at a time. Headaches, and sometimes heartaches, are generally had otherwise.]

[She knows him well enough to figure he's probably feeling bad about this.]

Sora...You didn't know. There wasn't anything you could have done differently.

[Xehanort's plan isn't something she really wants to touch, at the moment. She wasn't an intended vessel, apparently, so she'll leave that for the others to discuss.]

It just seemed wrong not to tell.

[That's an understatement, but he appreciates having some understanding.]

I know. It's just hard not to think of how things could have been different.

[He doesn't blame her for that. It's a mess and it's going to take a lot to put a stop to it.]

[With how much she's seen of his memories, it'd be difficult for her to notunderstand.]

"Could have" doesn't always mean "would have," though, does it?

[Stopping Xehanort won't be easy, but Sora won't have to do it alone.]

I guess it doesn't.

[He knows he's not alone on that and it means a lot.]
