[Well... It'd been a long day, and he'd been trying to deal with the fallout of a fight with some nightmares earlier. Specifically... The fact that his aim leaves a lot to be desired. Of course a shot just happened to bounce a few times before he managed to hit something. The problem? The hit was actually a bullet clipping his Dream Eater. He'd been trying to make up for it since they finished dealing with the nightmares in question, carrying her back to where they'd been staying after gathering the prizes up from the fight. And now he's got his comm up, recording himself petting an agitated pricklemane with an injured tail.]

Anyone got some suggestions on how to make up to a dream eater for... I guess you could call it friendly fire.

I'm just glad this isn't the real Allison. Otherwise, I'd never hear the end of this.

Feed her treats and try playing with her with balloons. That usually cheers them up a bit.

[Delta is radiating "I told you so" in his head, but it wouldn't do any good to say that to Church; you don't alienate the people you wish to help if you intend to do any true measure of good. He'll just have to make arrangements as swiftly and painlessly as possible.]

I think the rest of today should be me making up for shooting Allison in the first place.

Yes. I know they I've fed it those before. Guess I'm going to need to make sure I have a lot of those for now and the future.

[Wash's poker face is nearly perfect. Nearly, because there's still a little twitch at the corner of his mouth that suggests he's trying really hard not to laugh his ass off. He's holding back for Allison's sake more than Epsilon's.]

How many ricochets did it take to get that hit?

[Okay, yeah, he couldn't resist that one.]

Buy it a potion for the wound and some chocolate or something so it doesn't hate you. The Moogles sell both.

[Oh, he sees that twitch. And he's pissed... But he can't help responding to the question.] Eight.

[Give Allison the potion now.] Shut up, Wash. It's not funny. I could have done real damage.

[Yep, that twitch is there and getting bigger. He is trying so hard not to smile right now.] ...Eight.

[He raises an eyebrow.] Knowing you, probably not. And I never said it was funny.

[Fang flies in from offscreen, landing on Wash's shoulder and squeaking. Hey, is Allison okay?]

And Wash, I can do damage. Killed someone in that other body Caboose put me in. [glaring] Your mouth is twitching.

[Allison perks up at the potion and seeing Fang again. The wound really wasn't a big deal. More a shock as it came from Epsilon.]

A potion, an apology, treats and a lot of affection usually work.

[Wait...] Does that mean I'm not the first person bad enough at fighting to accidentally hit one?

The Spirits aren't stupid. If it's genuinely an accident, they'll usually understand.

[Did you just...?] Friendly fire doesn't necessarily mean you're bad at fighting. It's just that accidents happen sometimes.

Yeah, that Emi kid's meow wow ended up on fire while they were practicing. It can happen to anyone.

[He's just trying to make you both feel better.]

It managed to bounce 8 times before it hit. And I was trying to hit something else.

Okay. Fine. It doesn't have to be. In my case, it was my not being very good with this rifle.

Well, I don't know about Dream Eaters but I know when I've hit my brother with some earth bending I usually cheer him up by taking care of him...you know...making sure he didn't have a concussion and then getting his favorite dumplings from the food cart down the road.

So I would guess Dream Eaters might be the same...just make sure she's okay and get her some treats or her favorite food.

Potion seems to have taken care of the injury. Allison is starting to calm down too. [The petting he's still giving her and the treat she's eating at this point are likely helping that.]

So much easier to make things up to than the Allison I named it for.

That's good. I'll have to remember that if something happens to Ping.

Animals tend to be a little more understanding of these things...or at least easier to forgive.

A potion should work for the injury, and they like the treats the Nightmares drop sometimes.

I know. It's not that bad an injury compared to what the gun could do.

Allison is going to be getting a lot of treats for this.

[Guns aren't something Namine is used to, but she knows enough to nod in acknowledgement of the truth of this fact. Her concerned expression gives way to a small smile at the promise of treats for Allison.]

I guess so. You named her after a friend?
