Technology is Fun - 001 [Audio]
Good day, my name is Jeeves. I am given to understand this device has some extraordinary broadcasting ability akin to a radio or television, but with multi-way communicative properties. I have been here only a short time and require some assistance, for which I will gladly work in trade.
I have created one of the creatures known as a spirit. I have been led to believe that the animal serves some useful function as protection in this realm against nightmares of a similar build, but alternate coloration. The Komory Bat now in my possession defies all training and disciplinary methods with which I am familiar for service animals. I would deeply appreciate some instruction on their care and control. It has taken to fluttering around me in a highly distracting way. Thank you.
I have also been informed this device has some archival function. If it may be accessed readily, I should like to know how.

[audio] -> [visual]
[There's the sound of movements, a window opening...and what sounds like hooves? "NOCTIS!" she calls out, voice somewhat fainter.]
I believe you shall find that in most cases, a Spirit will instinctively attack any Nightmares present. They can often still benefit from combat training, but I presume you meant training of a more prosaic nature?
Ah, there you are. As you can see - oh.
[The visual flicks on to a vaguely irritated pony princess, one wing slightly unfolded to support the gray-and-blue bat perched on it. Luna huffs a little - honestly, as if she didn't know perfectly well how to work the device!]
My apologies. As you can see, you can dye their fur, if you find their brightness overpowering. Simply avoid colors similar to their Nightmare form, 'twould be dangerous in melees. Now! To begin training, you will likely require treats. Have you obtained any?
[visual]
I was unaware equines had developed a monarchy in this realm, Your Highness. My apologies for any discourtesy the failure to use your proper title may have projected.
[He is trying to avoid looking directly at her just for a moment as it is distinctly unsettling. She has a horn and wings... and her mane is transparent and appears to be sparkling and moving on its own. Most disturbing. As this isn't a tactic conducive to learning, he does look up eventually and focuses on the much less obtrusive animal in her possession.]
I was only recently informed of the preferred provisions amongst spirits. [He reaches for and holds up a carrot for her to see. The Pink and yellow Komory Bat that has been lounging on the nightstand until now flits toward him when the food is raised and begins flapping in circles, much to Jeeves' annoyance.] Carrots seem to draw its attention, but fail to hold it for extended periods of time.
[visual]
[She snorts a little at the carrot. Theeeere's your problem.] Yes, they prefer sweets. Simply rewarding them with food for desired behavior often works. They are more intelligent than dogs, but many similar tactics can be employed.
If you are unwilling to engage the Nightmares directly, others are often willing to provide. We have a fair population of soldiers, and I suppose they must keep busy somehow...I may have some extra food about as well.
[visual]
I should not wish to subsist on the charity of others, Madam. [He also has no desire to rely on the charity of others.] You are most gracious, though. I shall bear your offer in mind. Might one also inquire as to whom those individuals of a military bend are if circumstances necessitate their assistance?
[visual]
[Oh dear. She can't see that conversation ending well. Why do either of them even care what Namine is wearing?]
There is Emile as well. He is living with one of my subjects, a white unicorn named Rarity.
[visual]
I'm afraid several persons have yet to identify themselves, madam. Chief Beifong would be the woman of apparent Oriental descent?
[visual]
[visual]
[Gray hair and facial scars can only be one person, so he appears to be right on that score, in any case. And yet...]
Madam, I beg your pardon, but I believe I may have misheard you. Did you say the gentleman's armor is purple? [Just strike a man when he's still reeling somewhat from your mere existence, princess.]
[visual]
Ah, he is using the audio setting. You are speaking with him about Ponyville.
...is...there some reason his armor ought not to be purple?
[visual]
Ah. My understanding of armor in true combat situations on my home world is that its main purpose is to prevent injury to the person wearing it. It should be both sturdy and of a hue that does not draw undue attention from the enemy. Purple is a most admirable color, but there are few environs in which I am able to envision it as an aid to camouflage. Perhaps Agent North's world has flora and fauna of an uncommonly bright spectrum to warrant his choices.
I see you are wearing adornments, madam. Is there armor on your own world that is purple? [Steeds do wear armor in battle, after all.]
[visual]
My own contingent of guards wear black and silver. My sister prefers gold for hers. But then again, Equestria has not seen war for centuries, and their presence is largely ceremonial.
Most of the Freelancers have similarly bright armor. It may be to tell them apart in battle, or due to their environment...or whoever assigned such things was simply incompetent. [She does not have a high opinion of their Director, after all.]
[visual]
[He's also taking note of the mention of that sister and the peace in her native realm. Would that he could say England had been similarly without conflict.]
[visual]
[As far as she knows, not many people go there anymore. She likes to go spacewalking now and then, but not frequently.]
[visual]
I see. Agent North made mention of it. The 'Mother of Invention'? [If it's a ship, that makes far more sense now, than if it were a town.] I shall endeavor to explore the additional worlds more fully in due course. Would you recommend any, in particular, for their educational value pertaining to this realm, madam?
[visual]
And you will likely wish to accustom yourself to Ponyville as soon as possible, should you ever plan to go there. I predict a great battle will soon take place, and anyone unable to manage their hooves should not risk being swept up in it.
[visual]
[visual]
The recurring dreams herald them.
[visual]
I see. We are to sleep in the realm of dreams, then, madam? Or is 'dream' another term for a creature or setting endemic to this reality?
[They have 'nightmares' meaning more than just bad dreams, after all.]
[visual]
Indeed, you will have to sleep much as you would otherwise. The dreams had here do not seem different from dreams experienced in the waking world, save for the recurring ones. Those I believe to be manufactured by an unknown force.
[Pretty much the people Chell was talking about. But let us speak no more of that here.]
[visual]
Is there any particular theme to these recurring dreams that hints at their origin or purpose beyond heralding the coming of a new enemy, madam?
[Jeeves glosses over the 'unknown force' comment. Given what Ms. Chell has said, there isn't anything to be gained by openly discussing them on the network if they exist.]
[visual]
[But the former two bother her more. She strongly suspects Xehanort's involvement, in all honesty...but again, that is not a matter for public discussion.]
[visual]
[His countenance grows marginally more grave. That is, his lips turn down slightly for a moment.]
Thank you for the warning, madam, and for your assistance. I shall endeavor to 'find my hooves' in Ponyville soon, as you say. I have a great interest in leaving this realm. I doubt my employer will look kindly upon my absence merely for the sake of dreaming fantastic dreams. [He also suspects Mr. Wooster's life may come to calamity if he isn't there to stop it.] I will aid in what ways I can.
[visual]
But of course, we all wish to return as soon as possible regardless.
[visual]
He is a gentleman of... eccentric tastes on occasion.

[visual] And then I had to make something up because that's a term about 20 years too early... /)_(\
