[Seems someone's made her way over to the new world. With all the trepidation about it and the general feeling of unease that it exudes, Asami's being careful - both her Spirits are poking around in the background, although her pair are more behaved than the majority of the ones she's met. She's looking around with a focused expression; clearly, she's on a mission.]

Considering how many of you guys from this world use guns, where do you get them here?

[Damn right she wants one. Two, actually - one to take apart, one to use.]

Hand-to-hand. My father wanted to be sure I could take care of myself, and I didn't waste the opportunity.

Things must be different on your world. I've met a Monk of Fabul or two and I'm pretty certain they have a vow against not being attractive in any way.

Machines like carriages but with an engine on them, for carrying around people and items. Dad invented them, I'm- I was one of the test drivers, but now I'm taking over the business.

[Hello lineface. She is so not impressed with your statements, Edge.] It sounds like you're saying that anyone who is attractive shouldn't be able to take care of themselves, and that if you can you can't be attractive. How can you even think like that?

Why the interest in guns, though?

[Actually she's got a lot going with her personality, that's just... her big hot-button topic right now. And at least Asami can tell she's overdoing it, as she closes her eyes and takes a couple of deep breaths, calming down somewhat before she answers.]

I need something better for long-distance defense. My regular fighting skills aren't as effective against Nightmares as humans.

Sure, but... why guns as opposed to anything else?

[Easy enough to tell that he doesn't really like guns as a personal thing; he's not exactly the type who wears his heart someplace other than his sleeve.]

Because now that this place is here, there's easy access to them. And I get along with mechanics pretty well.

[Her guns will be so shiny that even Ziva couldn't fault her for it.]

Something wrong with them?

They're not for defense. They're for conquest. They're for extermination.

And they're not as effective as their creators would think.

[He's looking off and beyond her, eyes narrowed. His words aren't really for her, after all, so much as his own memories.]</small.

[She'll watch him for a minute, just a tad skeptical but keeping it off her face, looking mostly confused. All right, guns were something her world didn't have, and she could easily see how they could be abused, but isn't it in how a weapon is used? Because any weapon could be classified as what he's saying.]

Maybe they aren't, but they should be effective enough against Nightmares. A lot of people here use them. [Hence her other reason for asking for one, so she could be properly trained.]

And if there were other options? Better ones, where it's your heart and your strength that matter, instead of just how hard an explosion flips a bullet at a guy?

[If he feels strongly about this... well, it's complicated, at the very least. Or at least more of a story than he's just gonna spill without provocation.]

What do you mean? Because I'm already using the abilities I came here with, and it's not quite enough.

[She can tell it's complicated, but he's being so emphatic about it she's fairly sure she shouldn't trust his opinion. Definitely not 100% at least.]

Thrown weapons. Effective at range, much quieter, a controllable arc. Sure, it's not as simple as 'point gun, things die', but what are you learning when the weapon's doing all the work for you?

Ohhh, right. I've trained with those in the past.

[She glances away, looking just a little uncomfortable.]

I always ended up breaking them.

I -- I hope you mean "when they hit the target", because that's not unexpected. Otherwise I can't even imagine...

I do a lot of hard work with machinery. Usually they didn't survive the factories.

[Another reason for the gun - it wasn't as flimsy.]

What an odd problem. But not one here! The moogles here keep them in stock, or at least the basic shuriken and kunai. Shouldn't be a problem to get some.

[motorvation]

You're really insistent on this, aren't you?

[It's an observation and not an accusation, but there's obviously something going on with him and guns that isn't good. Also there's the (likely) possibility that'd he'd try to insist on training her himself. So he could "watch her form" of course.]

[It's enough to make him fall silent for a moment, his expression mostly unreadable behind his mask.]

I have some strong opinions on the subject, yes.
