003 [Accidental Video]

[Eraqus's communicator switches on without his doing...in this case, it looks like Kura accidentally turned it on while lifting it up with his tail. Kura peers under the communicator, then temporarily scampers out of sight of it.]

Yaza?

[Kura's not the only one that appears to be searching. Eraqus is looking around the small room he's taken up at Sunset Hill, with Gengo and Chuza also glancing around in confusion.]

Yaza!

[Still nothing. Eraqus stops, looking frustrated.]

Honestly...what good is it to have a Spirit that immediately goes missing?

[He sighs, and walks out of view of the communicator, which is still broadcasting. As soon as he is out of view, a Toximander's head can be seen slowly emerging out of the floor. The Dream Eater blinks in the direction that Eraqus went, looks around a bit, then dives back into the floor.]

[Considering that the Dream Eaters are made of darkness, Sora's kind of surprised that more of them don't use such abilities.]

I'm sure it will. It just takes a little patience.

[Well, at least patience he has. Maybe he can train Yaza out of this darkness usage, or at least vanishing into the floor as much.]

Then I suppose the first step is convincing it to come out into the open at all...

Hmm. Treats work. And maybe if you can figure out why it's hiding in the first place, that might help too.

Come to think of it, I've seen pets do stuff like that. Hiding when they're brought into a new place. It could just be that it needs a little time to get used to you and your other Spirits.

Too bad one cannot just ask them their reasons. [Even if he has his suspicions as to why already.]

[He considers this for a moment, then go to his belongings and digs out a confetti candy that he collected. He carefully holds it out over the floor, looking to see if Yaza will emerge.]

[He does, eventually, but just behind Eraqus. The Toximander watches it for a moment, then jumps up and grabs the treat out of his hand before disappearing again. Eraqus jumps a bit as the candy gets snatched out of his hand.]

Yaza, just stay for a moment!

That would help. [He'd have to share that suspicion for Sora to be able to comment on it.]

... It could also be a little mischievous.

[Bruce chatters an approval at that idea. Sora nudges him.]

I haven't discounted that possibility.

[He turns to look at Kura as if to suggest that he's had experience with that before. Kura just saunters about as if to go 'What, me?'

[Okay, Sora has to laugh at that. The Spirits all have their own personalities and it can be fun to meet many Spirits because of it.

Granted, he wasn't feeling so positive about the different personalities of Spirits when Bruce was laughing at his misfortune with the skateboard, but that was another issue entirely.]

The Spirits vary almost as much as we do. The only thing they might not be capable of is hate or malice.

[At least others are getting amusement out of his Spirit's antics. Kura catches Eraqus's look and just quiiietly saunters out of view.]

I guess that is more saved for their Nightmare counterparts, if they feel that at all.

[One of the things the Spirits do very well is make people feel better. Sometimes they do that just by being hilarious. A good laugh is worth quite a bit.]

Hmm. Probably. The only way to really know that for sure might be if we could see how they act outside of battle. That's kind of hard though. They go on the attack as soon as they notice anything that's not a Nightmare.

[Considering everything, Eraqus does appreciate the humor, even if he is not always great at showing it.]

Perhaps that is something for an intellectual type to study, if it can be done safely. I rather doubt such an opportunity will arise, though.

[He'll probably have an opportunity to laugh at the antics of someone else's Spirits sooner or later. Likely sooner.]

There might be someone here who would like to work it out. Then again, the only reason I can think of to even do it is curiosity.

[Or being an insufferable know-it-all who'd love to be the one to discover something new about something... like Even. Sora doesn't say this, though. If Even's even watching other threads, he already knows the idea is there...]

Yes...the most important factor is that they are a threat to everyone here, and that must be dealt with first.

[Eraqus is thinking of Even as well, but considering something about the man kinda sets him on edge, he's not going to be bringing him up, either.]

[As if to prove that, Bruce lands on Sora's head in an effort to see what's going on. He squeaks indignantly when Sora shoos him off.]

Yeah. It's a good thing most of us so far can fight.

[Even sets everyone on edge...]

[Eraqus ends up smiling a bit at that.]

And that those that cannot have some manner of protection.

[From off screen, Jelly Bean can be heard barking at Bruce. Bruce squeaks back at him in irritation. Apparently, Jelly Bean thinks that Bruce would have done better to land close by and lean into frame from the side rather than trying to land on Sora's head. However, Bruce has seen other bats landing on their people's heads and he wanted to try it. Eraqus's Spirits may or may not get a kick out of this argument if they're listening.

Sora just shakes his head and tries to ignore them as he keeps his attention on the conversation.]

It also helps that there are safe places to get into where Nightmares don't show-- Hey!

[Jelly Bean has decided to settle his argument with Bruce by demonstrating the efficacy of just leaning into frame rather than landing on the person's head, so the screen is now filled with the face of a Meow Wow that has been painted to look like a purple dalmatian.

It doesn't work as well at Jelly Bean would have like as Sora shoves him back out of frame. Bruce finds considerable amusement in this.]

[Well, Eraqus does, too. He cracks a bigger smile and chuckles to himself briefly...once again, the Spirits have derailed the conversation.]

[Speaking of, Chuza takes notice of the sound of another Meow Wow, and leans up to try and get a good look. Eraqus decides not to try and stop her...except then she just presses her snount against the screen so that it's the only thing that can be seen.]

[The Spirits are good at derailing conversations. Sora just shakes his head at the sudden screen full of Meow Wow snout.]

At least there's never dull moment with the Spirits.

[Eraqus eventually just pushes Chuza down out of sight so that he can actually see the screen again. Chuza rolls on over, feeling satisfied with communicating with Jelly Bean.]

I can't say I have any complaints.

[Except for Bruce being an asshole, but that's probably common knowledge by now and he doesn't seem to act that way to other Spirits.]
