Good afternoon!

[Souji's sitting on the edge of a wall, kicking sandaled feet in the air and smiling at the communicator set up on the wall to his left. He holds up a plate with the better part of a carefully sliced pound cake on it.]

I think Toshi is going to get fat if he and I share all of this. It's a little too big.

[He pouts, and then switches to a brilliant grin.]

-- If you're hungry, I can share!

[Reaching out to pick up the communicator, he turns it in a circle to show that he's sitting in the First District.] But hurry up. I don't know how long I'll have any left, you see.

[Laughing, he closes down the feed.]

Did you make it?

Noooo... I'm not much of a cook! It looks like it would be hard to make.

I bought it as a treat. Toshi's been doing such a good job helping me fight! It's bigger than I'd thought, that's all.

Would you like any, Roxas?

Uh, yeah. Sure. I'll be right there!

Toshi and I will see you soon!

[This becomes a very true statement as Roxas appears shortly after, Bouncer at his heels.]

Hey Soujiro!

Roxas! Hello! [He holds out the plate of cake, smiling. Toshi makes a futile leap, aiming for the plate, and tumbles off the wall instead.]

...Don't be greedy, Toshi, you had three pieces.

[Bouncer scampers over and nudges at Toshi with his nose. You okay friend?

Roxas, in the meantime, takes the plate with a nod of thanks.]

What kind of cake is it?

[Toshi gives himself a shake, spines rustling and jutting out randomly, and then snorts. He's fine. He meant to do that. Entirely.]

I'm not sure! Ah... I'm not very good with Western sweets, you see. I think it's plain?

There's no fruit in it, at least.

[Cake is cake. Roxas will eat it. Bouncer gives Toshi another sniff, just to make sure. He can do healing stuff now.]

Why do people put fruit in cakes anyway? This one's good though.

Fruit can be good too! Especially if it's the right season. I like oranges myself.

[Toshi bounces to his feet and sniffs Bouncer in return, circling a little to one side. The fall's forgotten, and he'd rather play.]

Yeah, it can be. Just not in cake.

I guess melons are alright.

[Granted, Roxas is not one for fruits and vegetables.]

They are! And persimmons, too.

[Souji will snack on anything.]

What's a persimmon?

Haven't you ever had one before? They're orange, and a little smaller than your fist, with green petals like a flower around the stem and a point on the bottom.

No, I don't think I've one like that.

[He has to think but the description's not ringing any bells.]

But they're good?

Maybe they don't have them in your world!

They're very good. I like the skinny kind best - they're the sweetest.

I don't think they do. If they did, I never had them.

If we find any, I'll try them.

We've seen the ways to other dreamers' worlds appear, haven't we?

Maybe one day we'll see mine!

Why, that looks absolutely scrumptious!

It is. [He laughs brightly.] Would you like any? There is quite a bit left.

I'd love some. Good food and good people is the best match!

You're too kind. Ah, I can introduce you to Toshi too!

[A Pricklemane hops up to look over his shoulder, cooing.]

Oh, my! What an absolutely adorable creature!

Isn't he? He's not as cute as my pet at home -- ahaha, sorry, Toshi! [The Pricklemane mutters and stomps its feet on Souji's leg, and he tickles its toes in apology.]

But he's still very cute, of course.

I know what you mean. My Figaro here can be a delight, but he'll never be a match for my dear sweet Pluto.

I do miss Saizo! He's a little piglet.

A piglet! How precious!

Oh yes. And what kind of animal is Pluto? A -- [oh yes, maybe he shouldn't say 'cat' to a mouse.]

-- A dog?

That's right! He's the sweetest pup in the whole wide world!

How cute! They do have dog-Spirits here... mostly like dogs, anyway. What are they called again? Meow Wow?

That's what I got... and my husband got one too!

Oh, really? [He laughs.] They are the cutest. But I like Toshi's attitude.

[The Pricklemane settles in next to him, looking smug.]

Well then, I will be especially glad to meet Toshi in person!

I'll see you soon!

[He beams at the communicator. He'll be waiting in the First District, swinging his feet like a child and teasing Toshi with cake crumbs.]

[Moments later, he'll hear the click-clack of high heels... and the weird noses a Meow Wow makes. Minnie is politely strolling up, while Figaro bounces up and down behind her, ready to squish her if she missteps.]

Hello~!

Good afternoon! [Toshi bristles at Figaro. That other Spirit had better not be here to steal his cake.

Souji taps him lightly on the nose.] -- They're our friends, Toshi. Be polite.

[Figaro just 'wuffs'. Sup. And Minnie takes her dress in her hands, and curtsies.]

It's a pleasure to see you in person.

[Souji hops lightly down from his wall and bows to her in return, then reaches up to grab the cake plate and offer her a slice.]

And the same to you!

[She smiles, and delicately takes one.]

Thank you so much. It's been way too long since I've had a really good dessert!

The tea-shop is really very good! Ahaha, I spend a little too much time there....

You know, I'm thinking of asking for a job there.

Really?

[A queen getting a job at a tea-shop? Well, she's certainly not snobbish...]

It does seem like a nice place!

And Miss Namine is such a sweetheart!

She's the young blond woman, isn't that right...?

[He's certain she is, but it's polite to ask.]

Yes, she's very kind! And such an artist.

And she can even paint spirits!
