Eighth Night: PSA Hell Round Deux

Any non-combatants, we order thee to retreat immediately into the shelter of the nearest building. It would be most unwise to linger outside. If thy spirits are not currently with thee, please summon them.

Everyone else, in case thou wert unaware, the Spellican hath arrived in Traverse Town and summoned the four previous large Nightmares fought. To repeat, that would be the Hockomonkey, Queen Buzzerfly, what I take to have been the Meta, and - Nightmare Moon. [Hear how pleased she sounds about that.] All hath vanished for the moment, and I am attempting to relocate them. Considering the circumstances, we may wish to form more organized search parties.

Once again, the streets are now extremely dangerous, and if thou'rt not well-experienced in battle, we strongly urge thee to retreat. These Nightmares are most dissimilar to any you may have faced in the streets thus far, and typically take several fighters to overcome. [She's thinking mainly of the new arrivals, here.]

We would not consider thee an non-combatant, Rainbow Dash. Perhaps Pinkie Pie, but I am not certain she can be made to do anything.

We can use the comms to organize. Assign different groups to different districts and move out from there. Shouldn't be too hard to smoke them out. If you fought them before that means they were probably back for revenge or something.

And don't worry about me. I'm an Avenger, I think I can handle a couple of battles.

If you are certain, I will take you at your word. [Clint, she doesn't know what the Avengers are. She's a pony.] I had hoped to organize groups once a sufficient number of fighters had responded.

Our Bestiary states that the Spellican is capable of summoning other Nightmares to do battle for it. I am not quite certain if they are the same as the previous ones, or merely copies...if the latter, they may prove less powerful overall.

Yeah, knowing how many we have available would help determine who we can send where.

Do I even want to know what a Spellican is? Did you see which way they went, Luna? I can try and track them from the ground.

Sora's bestiary states that it summons the forms of other Nightmares, who must then be destroyed ere it can be attacked itself.

They scattered to the winds, and the Spellican itself vanished entirely. I imagine it will return when its creations are defeated.

Luna! If we can get all the non-combatants in one building, I can use my magic to seal the doors so none of those creatures can get it.

That would be helpful indeed. Perhaps the hotel? It has always repelled Nightmares in the past.

I'll set up the spell right away. I've never battled Nightmares before, but I assure you, I won't let them pass.

Not that I'm not happy to run for my life, but are you sure non-combatants will be safe in the buildings? It sounds like there's a lot of enemies out there!

You will be safer than in the streets.

Queen Minnie has just offered to magically bar the doors of the hotel. I would advise going there.

I've only encountered the Queen Buzzerfly myself, though I've been on the receiving end of the Meta's attention before. I can't say I like that we now have all four in one place. Would striking for that strange bird likely destroy the returning four?

Certainly, if it could be accessed. But records would seem to indicate that we must approach the matter in the converse manner.

[Spellican. Lovely. Sora kind of feels like he should have expected it. But now there's a problem and he realizes he left a small, but potentially important bit of information out of his guide.]

I don't if it's done the same thing again, but when I fought the Spellican before, the bosses it summoned were stronger than they were the first time around. Other than that, they had the same abilities.

Well, at least we know how they fight now. As long as we're ready for the extra power, we ought to be okay.
