01: action -> video
[First District, Traverse Town. Kanji's spent a little while getting settled in, but he's out and exploring right now, getting his bearings.
Or, at least, he is until trouble hits.
A mob of Nightmares. Nothing spectacular, a gang of Meow Wows, but it's enough to catch him off guard. How can anything so adorable be so vicious...! Then again: he's hardly unfamiliar with getting into a fight. Now, what can he use around here to take those damn things out with...
Shortly after, parked on the steps leading down to the town gates, he'll be making a call to get some more answers while he recovers a bit.]
...anyone getting this? Uh, hi, anyway. Name's Kanji - I got here earlier. And - I've got a coupla questions. About these guys.
[He pans the camera around to show his Pricklemane bouncing happily nearby.]
This little dude saved my ass earlier, but I don't know anything about it. Or about the ones who were trying to eat me. ... That's how it works, right? They're 'Dream Eaters', we're dreaming...
[Kanji logic, everyone.]
So is there anything I need to know? Like, how do I look after this guy? Does anywhere sell food for 'em?
...uh, and does anyone know who owns the café by the 'item' shop? The one with the chairs outside? I ... can't see 'em anywhere but I think I kinda owe 'em some cash.
I just... didn't exactly have anythin' else I could use, here...

Nightmares tend to drop spirit food, which looks like cakes and candy and stuff like that.
no subject
The ones I beat up gave me cash. Guess getting food off 'em ain't any weirder than that.
no subject
But, trust your spirit. They're really handy when it comes to combat.
no subject
Yeah... little guy just turned into an absolute wreckin' ball. Gotta say, I'm impressed.

[Sora had encountered fairly weird logic in his travels. This is nothing.]
Actually, the Dream Eaters eat dreams, not dreamers. But that doesn't really change the fact that the Nightmares will do everything they can to hurt you. But the Spirits will help you fight them. Anyway... oh, here.
[And you have a text document coming through.]
That covers all the Dream Eaters I've seen, but I think there are some I haven't seen. The one you have is called a Pricklemane. They're not actually hard to take care of, although they can get into trouble sometimes. Kind of like having really smart pets.
And... I don't think anyone owns that cafe. I've never seen anyone there anyway.
no subject
[Okay, Kanji's just going to skim the document for a second, eyes widening on just how much stuff there is to read-]
...dude, you're a life saver. This is gonna be helpful as anythin'. I ain't ever had any pets back in the, uh, real world, so I ain't really got any idea what I'm doing.
And ... that's a relief. I kinda broke one of the chairs over one of the big black cat things. I'm really gonna need somethin' better if the - Nightmares - are gonna keep trying to get me.
no subject
I'm glad that helps. Yeah, they do need some care, but it's worth it. Not only the help in battle, but they're good friends too.
Hmm. I think you can buy weapons from the Moogles.

[Action] o hai
[ The voice comes from directly behind Kanji, followed by the weighted footsteps of someone in armor.
The soft scrabble of paws is easily hidden as Carolina approaches, her aqua blue armor rather bright in the street, but its a very friendly pink cat-thing that peers at Kanji from behind her legs. A hebby rep peers down from her shoulder, a similar blue to her armor.
The voice is not unfriendly, persay, but it doesn't go out of its way to be welcoming. The tilt of her helmet as she inspects him doesn't help that either. ]
Re: [Action] o hai
Still, he's not someone who's going to let himself be pushed around. A little defensive-looking, he looks the armoured figure over-]
Yeah, okay. I mean, they told me all that stuff comin' here, I guess it makes sense they'd know other stuff about the place 'n all.
no subject
[ Meaning...well, he doesn't owe anyone, except maybe the moogles but even that wasn't guaranteed - things had been destroyed before and simply reappeared later. Carolina had come to the conclusion that the dream world simply replaced it at will; that's what happened with crates in Twilight Town, after all. ]
And not all dreamers are human.
[ Meanwhile, Lela obliges Kanji's gaze by trotting out from behind her Person and mewing pleasantly, circling him with obvious curiousity. There was a faint huffle-chuckle from the lizard on Carolina's shoulder, but the armored human merely sighed faintly. ]
She's Lela, and this is Dax. [There was an obliging hiss] You are?

[..Too bad his Meow Wow saw the new Pricklemane. Hi new friend, hiiii~]
--Moxie wait..!
Re: [action]
Hey, dude, what're you - oh, huh...
[Okay, so it looks like one of the ones he was fighting earlier, but - ah, yeah, there's that symbol. One of the good ones, then... it takes a little before he notices its two-legged companion.]
...This guy yours?
no subject
...He is.

I'm afraid that no one seems clear on who owns that cafe, but I wouldn't worry about it. I believe others have covered your other questions, but have you found the hotel yet? Or another place to stay?
no subject
And - thanks, man. I found the hotel while I was lookin' around earlier. Any other stuff I oughta know about this place? Anywhere else I need to know about? I think I've seen most of it, but I ain't sure.

video;
Pricklemanes, sometimes you can pick 'em up by the tail and use them like a morningstar. What kind of weapon you usually have?
Re: video;
He looks at his Spirit for a moment.] Seriously... that ain't gonna hurt 'em? [The reply being a happy squeak. Whatever its person wants is fine!]
[Looking back at Emile onscreen, now-] And I... usually just improvise, really, man. Whatever's heavy enough that it'll do some damage.
no subject
Melee? If only he had a Gravity Hammer to lend.] You want a good maul, then. Light enough to carry, long enough to get momentum, heavy end to do damage. I'll keep my eyes open.
