Hello, and welcome to-

I am sorry, my resources here appear to be limited. I have been authorized to use this network in order to make announcements regarding current events on the Mother of Invention.

Currently, many of my systems remain inoperable. However, I am attempting to make the systems control portions of the ship accessible, and I would appreciate any assistance in bringing the rest of my functions online. I will be opening up a secondary training room shortly in order to provide a route to these vital areas.

I need to know what happened to you, FILSS. What's the last thing you have access to on record before you were connected to this network?

Let me search my memory banks. It appears that the last event on record before my current activation was the ship's missiles being directed back at the ship. I hope that is helpful to you.

..Yes, thank you, FILSS. What is your current operational status?

Life support systems are running independently. I have access to the bridge, but the ship appears to be immobile. Weapons systems are offline. Databases are at twenty percent.

Understood. Are you able to access any other ship systems?

[A pause.] Are you able to detect any other life signs on board?

Currently, I am able to open portions of the ship that have life support. That's funny; the ship seems smaller than it used to be. Have I taken heavy damage?

...We're not sure right now, FILSS.

[ How to explain to a 'dumb' AI that she's dreaming? ..Carolina'll have to come back to that one. ]

Given what your logs show, it's possible damage knocked systems offline that would let you see the rest of the ship clearly. Do you still have access to the surveillance systems?

I can only access my sensors in certain areas of the ship. I will be capable of guiding any assistance to my systems areas, but my resources are very limited.

[ A sigh follows.] That's still better than nothing.

FILSS, instruction: run a full system diagnostic, then determine most critical functions for immediate restoration.

I'll also need you to keep those sensors sharp - if any suspicious activity occurs on board, please log all incidents and report them to me.

Command accepted. Running diagnostic now. This may take some time.

Just do what you can, FILSS.

Any other system irregularities I should be aware of?

Systems diagonistic complete. It appears that large portions of the ship are missing. I cannot tell whether these portions of the ship have been destroyed, or whether my sensor arrays were damaged. Given the continuing levels of life support, it's more likely that my sensors are working incorrectly. Databases are at 20% accessibility. Supply levels seem to indicate a recent restocking, in the areas in which my sensors are working. There are no known software errors at this time.

I am not certain who activated my systems. If you can locate whoever it is, they may be able to give you more information on what happened to me.

[firmly] I plan to, FILSS. Please review your logs, and determine most likely location onboard where reactivation would have been triggered. We can then start from there.

Hnn. [Thinking.. Thinking..] Are there any active life signs aboard right now?

Reviewing logs now. I am sorry, Agent Carolina, but there seem to be gaps in my memory. The most likely point of activation is the bridge, but I do not have logs of anyone's being present.

There are no active life signs aboard at this moment.

I'll have to ask the moogles, then. [She was pretty sure one had taken to hanging out on the Bridge. Someone had to have seen something.]

[silence. No life signs. Did that mean that whatever had been attacking people had..left? Or, if it was purely mechanical...

Then, an uncomfortable thought. Once she has to ask, even when she's certain she knows the answer:]

The last known location of the Director of Project Freelancer was a restricted area of the Mother of Invention.

[ There is the faintest hiss of breath between clenched teeth.

Carolina, look at me. You know what needs to be done.

Is that restricted area accessable at this time.

No. That area does not appear on my sensors.

[ Of course not. He's not here. You'd know if he was, and he wasn't, and if he was he'd be a dead man.

The ensuing silence practically radiates offended at being thwarted again, before Carolina wrestles her emotions back under control. ]

All right. Fine. Which of the nearest systems are most critical, FILSS?

If someone could fix the sensors, I would be able to direct people to other parts of the ship in order to perform repairs in specific areas.

We'll get on that as soon as we can, FILSS.
