[At first it might not seem like there's much of anything on screen, save that it's very white. Suddenly it shifts, revealing a mouth, eyes- oh my, that there's someone's nose.

Fone strokes his chin as he eyes the video source before finally speaking up.]

Hullo? This thing is on, right?

Um. ....my name's Fone Bone, and I guess you could say I just got here? I'm still tryin' to get used to this whole idea of here as it is...

At least it sure beats bein' stuck in th' middle of an ocean, floatin' on a wooden coffin...

[The Bone sighs. At least in those dreams he'd been able to wake up.]

Is there anyone else around? It'd be nice to know I'm not just talkin' to myself here, so if you could just, y'know, give a holler or something.

[Abruptly he winces, throwing a glare off screen before he lifts his other hand up and gives it a shake to try dislodging a gnawing Komory Bat.]

-an' can anyone tell me what to feed this guy before he eats me alive?

Welcome to town. If you've spoken to the moogle, then they've filled you in on the basics of living here. If you defeat some nightmares, they will provide you with food for your dream eater.

[Ienzo tips his head thoughtfully.]

I don't believe that spirits eat people. Certainly not their own people.

[He looks visibly relieved to get a response at all.]

Thank you- and yes, I did get th' run down on that. Haven't run into any nightmares, but I get th' feelin' that won't be long in changing...

[The Bone doesn't look all too eager to run into them either, but if it's unavoidable, there's no sense in complaining.

He manages to get the bat to cease its gnawing, watching as it flutters about almost drunkenly before landing on his head. Sigh.]

Well, that's good to know, at least.

You could also buy treats from the moogles; it's just more advisable to save the money for a hotel stay at the start.

That's what I was thinkin'. Guess I got a lot to get used to around here...

It seems as if this world is quite different from most people's. Are you capable of defending yourself?

[Most people who arrived in the dream world could at least to some extent but it was never good to assume such things.]

I'm pretty sure he won't eat you, but I have seen Spirits using their people as chew toys...

[Like Pinkie Pie's Hebby Rep, but the pony hadn't seemed to mind.]

You can fight the Nightmare Dream Eaters for special treats for you Spirit. The Moogles also sell those treats and the Spirits can eat other foods too.

That's a relief! Of course, I'd prefer he didn't use me as a chew toy either...

[He pokes at the bat, watching it drop off from his hand to flutter about in wobbly circles.]

How d'ya fight 'em? The Nightmares, that is. I'm thinkin' I should watch my budget for th' time being...

They can be trained.

[Sora's own bat is suddenly on his shoulder, chattering excited hellos to the new bat. Sora mostly ignores him, as if this has happened plenty of times before.]

Well, the Spirit's supposed to help you with that. The Nightmares leave munny too when they're beaten, but if you'd rather not fight for cash, there are places around to get jobs.

[Fone's bat eagerly smooshes his head in to greet the other Dream Eater, which lasts all of a few seconds before the Bone pushes him away.]

'oop, sorry about that..! So, you were sayin' something about them helping? They know how'ta fight? I...well, guess I'm not much of a fighter, but I will if I have to.

[Oh this is how it always is with the Spirits, pretty much. They are very social and playful. Fone Bone better get used to that.]

It's okay. The Spirits all have their quirks. Yeah, they can fight and they'll get better and stronger with time and practice. Hopefully you won't need to fight too often. You can ask for help if you run into trouble too.

[And Sora is usually an easy person to read, so it might be obvious that he's the type to help out however he can.]

[The winged unicorn bows formally to the communicator, smiling. Her horn is glowing warm yellow because she's using her magic to hold it up.]

I think you'll find the Spirits here have... powerful personalities.

[With a tilt of her head, she indicates over her shoulder, where her own Komory Bat is... very determinedly flying in circles.]

[It's a talking horse. No. Scratch that, because that sure is a horn on its head!]

O-oh! Uh, thanks, miss?

And...I think I'm beginning to see that...

[And wings. Don't forget the wings. They're impossible to miss, particularly as she never quite seems to fold them entirely.]

They are steadfast allies, though, and protection against their counterparts, the Nightmares.

[Oh yes- and they're very pretty wings too! Actually he doesn't know that he's ever seen a prettier horse. Er- winged unicorn.]

So I'm hearin'... I wonder how all they go about fightin' them Nightmares. Is there anything you can tell me about 'em?

[It isn't obvious because, well, telekinetic magic, but Celestia fiddles with her communicator for a moment, to send a document Fone Bone's way.]

Spirits don't eat people. They like most food, though--especially the treats the Nightmares drop.

It's nice'ta meet you, Namine! [He smiles a little and offers a small wave to the bat as well, while his own Dream Eater gabbers happily from where it's now taken to perching on his head.]

That's a relief. And I guess knowin' it won't be too difficult to keep this guy fed is good too.
