[ Greenish-blue seafoam green turquoise Aqua blue-ish armour appears on screen, though the helmet design is a little different from that of the other Freelancers folks here are likely familiar with. It stares sternly into the camera; the backdrop of endless stars and a tilted rooftop behind them indicate that this person's somewhere in Traverse Town.
For those of you who haven't met this freelancer yet - surprise! It's a lady. A very serious sounding one, at that. ]
My name is Agent Carolina. I believe most of you already know several people from my world who've been here some time.
I arrived only recently, but I've been brought up to speed on matters regarding the Mother of Invention. [Her head dips slightly.] I'd be interested to know the locations inside the ship where people encountered whatever this... invisible being is, along with anything that stood out to witnesses - particularly the type of damage inflicted. 'Magic' isn't natural to our world, but from what I've been told, some of our technology might potentially imitate it.
Any sounds heard before or after would also be relevant.
[ There's a brief pause, followed by a clipped: ]
Thank you for your time.
[ Another brief pause. ]
And North, when you see this, get in contact. I'd like a word, please.

>> Private Channel Activated <<
Are you still bunking over on the ship?
[ Faintly awkward tone goes here. ] ...And how are your moogle haggling skills?
>> Private Channel Activated <<
[He doesn't want to move completely, just in case. Also the hotel bed is way more comfortable.
He has to pause.]
Alright, for the most part. They've been really holding their ground lately though.
>> Go go perma-filter <<
[ Most beds usually are more comfy than a fixed bunk. Though getting Carolina to sleep is effort in and of itself.
Ugh. ]
According to Wash, they've increased prices for 'armored individuals' by fourty percent.
[There's faintest of winces.] That...may be my fault.
>> Go go perma-filter <<
[North laughs, though it's good natured.]
I admit I kind of guessed. I'll do what I can to help out. They like Theta well enough so he can help to.
[He may have masted the moogle hologram]
no subject
[ There's an uncomfortable shift. Carolina has rarely been cause for laughter, and while months down the line this will end up being pretty funny, right now it's just embarrassing. ]
..Thank you, and to Theta. [who no doubt makes the cutest moogle AI ever. Of all time.] I have a feeling getting them to stop hiding from me long enough to talk will be the greater challenge here.
no subject
Sorry, it happened pretty quickly. Ienzo was with me though, so he was able to cure me. I'm fine now, honest.
[North doesn't blame her. The moogles needed a bit of shaking up.]
No problem, and don't worry, I'll come up with something to get them to listen.
no subject
[ To put it mildly. (she also makes a mental note to thank Ienzo, should they ever meet.) ]
You didn't see anything on motion trackers? How about Theta?
[ Even if it was a
biglittle misunderstanding, shooting a moogle probably wouldn't be what North hand in mind for a shake-up! ][a faint snort] Given what happened the last time you told me not to worry? [Her head shakes as she sighs.] Once a door's open, I can handle it from there. [probably...] The sooner we can do so, the better. The price hike is ridiculous. Especially given the situation on the ship.
no subject
[He shakes his head.]
I had my trackers set, but it was fast. I don't think Theta picked up anything either, but I'll have him go through the logs.
Hey, haggling with moogles is completely different from a mysterious whatever it is attacking people.
When do you want to go get this sorted out?
no subject
Unless they're the ones behind the attacks. [No, she doesn't sound like she remotely believes that, but her tone of voice is more relaxed.] As for when, sooner than later, if that's fine by you.
Think the next 48 hours are enough for you and Theta to convince them to at least speak with me?
no subject
If they are, I'll be surprised.
But yeah, that should be doable. I needed to go talk to them anyway.
[But if he ends up kupo-ing, he's blaming you.]
no subject
..What about? [ She can't help but be curious now. ]
[ Blame she'll be happy to shoulder, if only for the short term amusement factor. ]
no subject
I just needed to get a few things that you can't really find around here.
[Toothbrush, razor, useful things.]
no subject
[ At some point, that'll enter her consideration. ...Maybe once the moogles stop avoiding her. ]
I'll wait to hear from you, then.

I got attacked in a hallway and my friend got in the locker room. It doesn't wait until you're alone.
That's really all I know.
no subject
[ Kids. Loose on the ship, being attacked. Carolina keeps her voice neutral, but it isn't hard to tell she's unhappy. ]
When you were attacked, was it a purely physical blow? Or did something else strike you - like a weapon, or magic?
no subject
I don't know if it was a weapon.
no subject
Given you don't have any armor to protect against blows, you seem to have recovered well.
You didn't see anything, but did you hear anything?
no subject
[Plus he's surprisingly tough for a kid.]
I didn't hear anything either. It just hit me and I was out.
no subject
Hnn. Good to know. Thank you..?

I think there are a couple places it's staying away from, but I'm not sure.
no subject
Do you remember anything specific about the attack at all? What did it feel like?
[Immediate interest in that noise.] What kind of growling? Anything like the sound one of the dream eaters make?
no subject
I wasn't alone. Tony was there and he got hit too, but not quite as bad. It felt like a physical hit and whatever it is, it hits hard.
No, it wasn't like any sounds the Dream Eaters make.
no subject
Another boy mentioned that whatever it was, it wasn't picky about its targets. [She does not appear to like what she's hearing in any case.] And there were no marks on the ground, no sign of its passage at all?
Was the noise organic, or more like a machine?
no subject
Well, it didn't fall for the dummies Perry set up to try to lure it out, but otherwise, no it doesn't seem to be picky. [Sora doesn't like this either.] There was nothing.
It was kind of like a machine. Why?
no subject
[ Carolina is quiet for a bit, before her helmet dips, making her look rather intimidating. ]
When that ship was last in service, we were at war with an alien race that had no hesitations about wiping out all human life. The Mother of Invention was used to develop equipment to allow us to counter them.
[ Theoretically, anyway. ]
no subject
I take they were pretty tough special equipment was needed.
[Come to think of it...]
Did those aliens make some kind of mechanical growling noise?
[It would certainly explain why describing the noise had prompt that explanation. Unless the equipment they were working on also made such a noise...]
no subject
[And refusing to back down in the face of it. But it hadn't looked good for a long time.]
They made a lot of noises. Until someone gets a recording, or I hear it myself, it's hard to say for certain the origin.
[ The fact she doesn't think it alien at all? Not at all obvious from her tone of voice. ]
no subject
[Sounds like a situation the Heartless would love...]
The safest way I can think of to get a recording is to just leave a communicator in one of the spots we knows it's been. But I don't know if it would even bother making any noise with no one around.
[If it's some of their tech, that's kind of unnerving. Sora's not a complete stranger to hostile AIs (MCP and CLU being a couple jerks he could do without) and he, knows thanks to having met Epsilon, that AIs can have robot bodies to use. But, Sora's got to know what to know that Carolina is thinking of that possibility and it is still possible the dreaming world included an alien in its dream. Frankly, both possibilities suck.]
no subject
It's not wise to have anyone abandon their communicators, not when people might need to be reached at any time. If spares could be obtained, however..
[ ...Someone else should ask the moogles about that. Ahem. ]
But you're right. If it did not seem to notice the dummies set out to lure it, we may have to find something else to get its attention.
[ There has yet to appear a possibility lacking any degree of suck. Which in and of itself sucks really, really hard. :/ The not knowing is frustrating to say the least. ]
no subject
Hmm, the Moogles might give us an extra or two to work with if we've got a good reason.
[There will be so much face palm from Sora if he ever finds out about that.]
Man, I hope we don't have to go for live bait. Unless... maybe just leaving a spare communicator out and recording would do it. It has attacked Spirits at the same time it's hit their people. Maybe it's fighting with the Nightmares too. Someone might still have to risk getting hurt to put something out to record, but it might work.
[Pessimism gets you nowhere. And Sora's perfectly willing to take the risk of getting hit again to put a spare communicator or other recording device in place. Maybe the situation is frustrating, but they can work through it.]
>>>Private to Carolina
I have not been there yet, but if you want another few sets of eyes with you, I am willing to go.
>>>Private to Carolina
She does however tilt her head somewhat quizzically at the woman contacting her. This was unexpected ]
I'll keep that in mind. [A brief pause, then:] You've been warned about what's been happening on board, I take it.
>>>Private to Carolina
Yes, I have.
>>>Private to Carolina
Then I need to know what you can do. What's your skill set.
>>>Private to Carolina
Anything else?
>>>Perma-Private
I don't know that we'd have office supplies handy for you, but certainly sounds like you've quite the resume.
I'd prefer to see you in action before I agree to anything, however.
[Overly cautious? Perhaps. Even if York did vouch for her skill. (That shouldn't carry weight, not anymore, but in spite of herself it still does.) ]
>>>Perma-Private
I would expect a test. You cannot trust what everyone says. Especially if they say what I just did. [She knows plenty of people who overstate their abilities.]
Sandlot, tomorrow night? I will admit, I may have to borrow a gun. Mine did not make it back here this time.
no subject
[There's a faint smirk, unseen behind her helmet.] I know where the sandlot is.
If we can't find a spare weapon, I'm sure we can find something else. Any particular preference? [In guns, of course.]
