Jail Break! (Action/Video)

[So, with Ziva gone, Fluffy and Abby have been in Wash's care. But, that doesn't mean the behave. They break out at least once a day to try to find Ziva. Why no, she totally didn't teach them how to pick locks. This time is slightly different though.

They brought Ziva's comm with them.

It's currently in Fluffy's possession, and he's in flight somewhere in Traverse Town. Every once in a while, Abby can be seen on the ground in the lens of the comm. They're talking back and forth to each other, mostly Where haven't we looked? and Hey! Over there!.

Then, there's the sound of gunfire off in the distance. Their person had a gun! And it sounded kind of like that sometimes. So, immediate direction change and off they go that way. The comm is tossed down to Abby and she catches it as he lands on her head, taking a break from flying for a moment.

The camera shows a glimpse of someone, in armor...some not-so-blue shade of blue, but not enough to show who it may be. Just...it's not who they were looking for.]

[York shrugs.]

Things don't exactly make sense here, Boss.

[guerriera]

Apparently not.

[ A sigh, before arms uncross, and she's moving. Close, closer, closest - but not actually touching York, stepping alongside to pass him.

She then ducks down to retrieve the much-abused but ever so hardy lighter. If this is, indeed, a dream, she's not sure what might trigger waking up. ]

[York sighs and shoves his helmet back on.]

Gotta warn you; Wash is...kind of jumpy.

[guerriera]

[ Gloved thumb strokes the side of the lighter, displacing dirt from the scratched logo of the long gone nightclub. Then, lid clinks shut and the item is stowed away.

Rising, Carolina's head tilts quizzically. ]

How so?

His PTSD is pretty bad, and like the rest of us, he has a hard time asking for help.

[And at least they're safely talking about Wash rather than either of them.]

[ Carolina really isn't in any position to talk about anyone's PTSD. (And as for asking for help? ...Yeah, let's not even compare pots and kettles there.)

Still...that runs so contrary to what she remembers of Wash's behaviour from the past few weeks, their parting notwithstanding. And whatever else she might feel, they had been a team, once. ]

Dreams, standoffishness...I think he doesn't want to talk about what he did after... [York waved a hand.] You know, after.

[ Carolina just stares at York.


No, she can't imagine why someone wouldn't want to talk about it. Nope. Not at all.

...You said something about a hotel.

Yeah, this way.

[York moves to lead the way to the hotel, through the first district. Hopefully he can broach the subject of moogles sometime; she'll need to get along with them.]

[guerriera]

[York leads, and for once, Carolina follows. Once they're out of the back streets, the aqua coloured freelancer moves along side; attention as much on him as it is her surroundings.

(Someone's going to have a headache when the topic of moogles comes up, aren't they.)]


..How long have you and Delta been here?

A few months.

[He should keep better track, but all the days seem to melt into each other after a while, without a specific reason to keep track of them.]

[ ..How long?

Even couched in vague terms, that doesn't seem very long. But perhaps that's simply due to perspective from her end of the timeline. ]

You must know this place fairly well by now, then.

As much as we can figure out, yeah. There's some stuff going on that I can tell you about later.

[Because mysterious voices and objects aren't necessarily the best way to bolster his claims of being whole and sane.]

[ There's a Look. She'll definitely be prying for more details later, that much he can be certain of. ]

All right.. How do those black and white creatures factor into things?


[ ...someone definitely missed the moogle memo. ]

The moogles seem to live here; they sell us stuff and occasionally point things out. They're the ones who made the communicators. It doesn't seem like they actually know what's going on more than the basics, though.

[People had probably tried to find out more from them, but they seemed to be clueless.]

So this place has black and white monsters with red eyes that attack you, but they're also vendors, have a monopoly on a communications network, and have no idea what we're doing here.

[ There's a pause, before she mutters under her breath. It might sound a bit like 'must be Tuesday'. ]

..Certainly one of the weirder dreams I've had.

Wait, when you say black and white...are you talking about the little teddy bears with bat wings or something else?

[Okay so he's confused about what they're discussing now.]

If it says kupo, it's a vendor. If it attacks you, it's probably a nightmare.

[guerriera]

..A nightmare.

['there is actually a difference?' is not quite implict in her tone of voice but...

There's a pause.]

I see.

There are some animals that help us, called spirits. The ones that attack us are called nightmares. You're gonna want to be careful if you're using regular ammo, too; it's pricey.

[guerriera]

[ There's a glance down to her plasma rifles, followed by an unseen grimace. The battle rifle didn't see use (yet) today. Still:]

I think I encountered some of those earlier. Spirits, that is. A bat one, and a bear one.

Do you have one? [a faint heh] Does Delta have an opinion on them?

I have two. Apparently you need to be independently mobile to rate, so D doesn't have any, but he gets along with 'em.

[Delta nods.]

They appear to be of higher intelligence than animals, but not equal to that of humans.

[guerriera]

I noticed that. [The intelligence, that is.] I take it yours are at the hotel.

Yeah, they won't be happy I left them behind. [York shrugs] They're good to have around. I missed having pets.

[guerriera]

[ Carolina has never had any pets. Not when growing up, and certainly not after joining the military. Colour her curious accordingly. ]

What are they like?

[allfunandgamesuntil]

They help you out in battle, but mostly they stay with you, want affection. They like it when you play with them or pet them. [Maybe he should get a third one. People are getting more these days.]
