[ SO! Another new arrival to add to the ranks of those already here, though she looked a bit troubled as she wandered the streets of Traverse Town. In her left hand she held the communicator as she scanned her surroundings, while in the right she clutched a pouch of keys to her chest, mostly for comfort. ]

This is too weird, but if not for Edolas, I might have not believed the possibility of a place like this. Still, I really can't - [ Stop talking to yourself Lucy, people will think you're crazy. She directs her attention to the network with a hesitant look at first, and then a quick smile. ]

Those cute little flying ...bears creatures - Moogles I think you call them? They told me about this place - and frankly it's a bit much to take in, but -- more importantly, I'm hoping I'm not the only one here from my world. And since I can communicate with other people over this lachryma -- I mean communicator.. if anyone has seen or heard my friends, Natsu, Gray, Erza, Happy or Wendy and Charle -- I'd like to know.

Hello and welcome. I'm afraid I'm only recently arrived myself, so I don't have a great deal of information to share with you... but what help I can offer is yours.

[ PONY. A very very pretty pony. But there's just one thing... ]

[ ... well duh Lucy, of course she talks. But still, wow, tactless much? Fortunately she recovers quickly. ]

A...ah sorry -I just... don't see a great many talking ... animals like you where I'm from. [ Well. There's the cats... ]

So you just arrived too? How long ago?

That's quite all right. In Equestria, humans are unknown. I've only met them since my arrival here... which was perhaps a week or two ago. It is very difficult to say, when there are no real days to judge the time by.

So this ...Equestria, it's only full of-- of unicorns, like you? What's your name?

Equestria is full of ponies -- unicorns, earth ponies, and pegasi. Of course, we also have other kinds there. Donkeys, griffons, zebras... We are welcome to all.

As for myself, I am Princess Celestia.

[ It's really kinda weird to think of a world run entirely by ponies - but then again, Edolas had an entire culture of cat- Exceeds. They must have a way to manage somehow. ]

Would you elaborate on the title 'Celestial Mage', please?

Well, a celestial mage is a person who specializes in the realm of celestial spirit magic. There are ... really very few of us left, actually. We wizards are able to make contracts with celestial spirits to help us in day to day tasks, or in the midst of battle. Sort of like those Dream Eaters the moogles were telling me about - but a higher intelligence.

Interesting. I have a certain connection with celestial bodies myself, but not spirits in any way, so I'm very curious. Would a demonstration be possible?

[celestial_wizard]

You do? But... not spirits? How do you mean?

[ Oh, demonstrations. Demonstrations she can do, and she smiles quickly, nodding. ]

This is not the case here, but on Equestria, raising the sun was my responsibility. There was no intercession with spirits, however; it was direct.

As for the demonstration, whenever is convenient for you. I would very much like to see, but there is no urgency to it.

Fair enough. I promised to introduce one of my spirits to a lot of other people here too, so I can do it all at once, once I'm settled in.

I'll look forward to it. I'm very interested in all forms of magic, especially ones I've never seen before.

You'd probably like Magnolia. There are wizards of every kind of magic there, and it seems that we encounter people with new types of magic almost every day.

That does sound very interesting. I'm a little surprised it's so easy to come across new types of magic, though.

Really? Why is that?

[letteropener]

Perhaps it is simply because Equestria is an old land, but most areas of magic have been explored fairly extensively.

[celestial_wizard]

I see. How old is your Equestria?

[letteropener]

Many centuries. To be honest, I'm not perfectly sure; much of our history was thrown into disarray thanks to the reign of a spirit of chaos and disharmony. But I can vouch for well over a thousand years after that.

[celestial_wizard]

I guess after a thousand years there's only so much magic created. Maybe though, there are some branches of magic that were lost? Some of the wizards back home specialize in lost magics, like Dragon Slayer or Time magic.

Magic such as time manipulation is very rare, and generally wielded only by the most powerful and skilled ponies, it's true. I wouldn't call them 'lost', though, merely esoteric and rare.

[celestial_wizard]

Hm. I think the Lost magics where we're from are lost mainly because the people who practiced it almost completely died out. They're hundreds and thousands of years old - the Dragon Slayer arts were taught by actual dragons, when they were around.

Luckily, we have a great deal of history preserved. One of our greatest masters of magic, Star Swirl the Bearded, has had many of his works preserved since before Equestria was even founded.

That -is- lucky. I'm glad that he was able to do that - it's terrible when you lost touch with some of your own culture because it wasn't written down - or what was written down was lost.

It IS lucky, and I've done my best to ensure his works and as many others as possible survive.
